Boys Will Be Boys....
I know, you'll be very surprised. We got up, ate breakfast and then headed out to go see some historic shit, like castles and houses and then spent some time on playgrounds.
Well, while that's mostly true, we also got to see something that is unique today. Don't get too excited yet. It was cool but I don't know that it would be considered knock your socks off cool.
After a lazy morning breakfast we decided to head out to Duff House, in Banff. Clan MacDuff, they run the Long Island Scottish Games in Westbury every year. The morning was fine until we were getting ready to into the car. The the nonsense started. Instigated by Neil. We're not sure what is going on, if it's a need for attention or something else but he seems to be off, waaaaaaaay off since we are here. He seems to have some difficulty managing himself when he's tired. Well, they were up early and he was tired. I brought the boys to the car while Jess finished up getting ready. After ten minutes of complete horseshit in the back seat, I moved them outside to the courtyard to play soccer and get off each other. Jess came out 20 seconds later. We got into the car and couldn't even get out of the driveway because Malcolm announced that he lost his water bottle. Five minutes later, trips to the courtyard and inside the house - because he can't ever remember where he drops anything, we find the bottle and get on the way. Fifteen minutes of bullshit on the ride and everyone falls back asleep. We arrive at Duff House and debate who is going to go out and who will remain in the car. Duncs and Malcolm are up and will go to the playground - they wake Neil. Neil decides that he wants to stay and sleep some more. Thirty seconds later, "I can't go back to sleep, I want to get out." We played in the playground for a while - no one wanted to leave. Too bad, we have historical shit to see!
On the way in, the boys...of course, played with the plastic swords and helmets.
The man at the counter, I believe Jess said his name was John, was really good with them at the end. They stress me out, but he decided that it would be a good idea to knight them - Sir Neil of the United States and Sir Malcolm of Bay Shore. I would have chosen Sir Neil Beater of Little Brothers and Sir Malcolm Who Cries for No Reason.
There was a scavenger hunt for them to do but it asked them to draw things, and they really couldn't care. They just wanted to find things and move on to the next one. There was a lot of stuff in the house but nothing that was too cool. Towards the end of the tour, Neil disappeared. He was on his way out with Jess and the other two when he apparently disappeared. I headed down the stairs and he wasn't with them. So I ran back up to go and find him. None of the stewards had seen him. Finally, I called out and he called back. I know he did it on purpose - he wasn't lost. I could tell by the smirk on his face that he decided to take a little tour of his own.

When we left we spent a few minutes back on the playground before we got into the car and headed to Kinnaird lighthouse - which used to be a castle. It's the only one in England (possibly Europe).
We did the tour and Malcolm and Neil were the highlight or annoying depending on what you thought. Malcolm decided to come out of his shell and ask the tour guide about 2000 questions. He handled it really well.

Malcolm got to crank the timing mechanism and the guy showed us how they used to spin it and told us about how often they had to do it - I didn’t hear any of it. It was more information that you get at most sites and I wish that I would have been able to hear it all. Everyone was tired. Duncs was on my back and he was pretty loud and I had to move him out of the way a few times so that people were able to hear. He wasn't bad - just loud.

When the tour was over, we went down to the water and climbed on the rocks down to the ocean. Jess told me she didn't think it was safe but daddy had to override the safety concerns.
On the way home we stopped at asda to get chicken and beer for dinner and snacks and gas.
We were a little tired because it wasn't until I got to the car that I said "why the hell did we get chicken now when we have an hour drive home?" Jess convinced herself it would be fine since she wouldn't be getting the salmonella.
After dinner, Jess threw everyone outside to play soccer and drink beer in the courtyard. I'm not really sure how this happened but at some point, Malcolm was tackling Duncan. This is what happens when your little brother weighs almost the same as you and daddy shows you how to pants him.
Mommy was very tired.
Side note: The internet is atrocious. It's worse than dial up in this place.
